Ussually 2 feet is sufficient, but in very bad clay soil area, you may need to go up to 3 feet deep. This is because of the materials we utilize.

We use a modified B slag or cruched rock which is a material manufactured by cruching the slag or rock to sizes no larger than 3 inches and with enough fines to permit the compaction of the material for a good base. The excavated areas are always covered with granular A for fine grading. Modified B slag is a much better material than regular B gravel. It compacts much better than B gravel.

We place 2 inches of asphalt compressed. The finished product is 2 inches thick, but thickness can be specified to your request.

We use HL-3 parking lot grade which is a commercial grade. It is a little coarser than driveway mix but is more durable.
